Los Angeles Rams
Ex-Ram Aaron Donald talks about the moment he decided to retire.
Throughout the bulk of his ten years in the NFL, Aaron Donald has been an unstoppable force. He had a fantastic career with the Los Angeles Rams team. When he declared his retirement in the offseason, he said things that opposing offensive players begged to hear.
For opposing offensive lineman, especially those in the NFC West who faced him twice a year, playing against Donald was like being in a torture chamber. There were just too many guns in Donald’s arsenal. In addition to being quicker, meaner, and harder than anyone attempting to stop him, he was also stronger.
It meant that those trying to slow down his assault in the offensive backfield were in for a long day.
Donald and Rams turn 2023 season into a successful campaign
The Rams had a poor start to the 2023 campaign, but they picked up steam in the middle of the year and earned a position in the NFC playoffs. That was a surprising outcome, and they ultimately saw their season end when they fell to the Detroit Lions on the road in the Wild Card game.
Donald expressed his pride in his teammates’ effort and said he thought the Rams played well enough to win in the game during an interview with Chris Long on the Green Light podcast. But he was aware that it would be his final game wearing an NFL uniform.
“Yes, because you know again I’m a guy that’s emotional definitely after a playoff loss. You know I’m usually mad, upset, but after the game bro I was in such a good spirit bro,” Donald said. “I was proud how we fought, I felt like we didn’t start the game off well as a defense but didn’t nobody quit in my mind bro, we was going to win that game, I didn’t think we was going to lose that game at all, and the guys were playing hard to the to the last play. I was proud of them.”
After the game, Aaron Donald felt proud and happy as he waved to his family in the stands. He made it a point to let Rams head coach Sean McVay that he had just played his last NFL game.
