Ex-striker for Swindon and QPR is disappointed not to make his England debut
Charlie Austin, a former striker for Swindon Town and Championship team QPR, has expressed his annoyance at not being able to play for England at the beginning of the national team. He was called up to the squad in June 2015 for matches against Slovenia and the Republic of Ireland.
Austin used to be a regular in the Premier League, and even though Queens Park Rangers were demoted from the top division, he had already scored 18 goals and provided six assists before he was called up to Roy Hodgson’s team.
The Austin Well-Traveled Career of Swindon Town
In addition to QPR and Swindon, the 34-year-old has played for Burnley, Southampton, West Brom, and Brisbane Roar. He has participated in all four levels of English football during that voyage. One of his highlights was scoring two goals against Wigan Athletic in the Championship play-off semifinals in 2014, which helped QPR advance to the Premier League.
