Officially one victory away from the NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks are enjoying one of their best postseason runs in team history.

Although all eyes are on Dallas as they look to close out the Minnesota Timberwolves, there are other eyes focused on something else in the NBA. Dallas is now up 3-1 against the Mavs.
If LeBron James opts out of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, he is likely to become an unrestricted free agent, and speculation about his potential destination is rampant. The Philadelphia 76ers were reportedly considered a “threat” to acquire James, and an NBA insider clarified all the details around his possible impending free agency.

Exclusive: NBA insider discusses LeBron James’s possible future with the Mavericks and his free agency
In our conversation, which took place over the phone with ESPN’s NBA insider Brian Windhorst, The Smoking Cuban explored James’ alternatives this summer should he choose to become an unrestricted free agent and forego his contract with the Lakers.

In his opening statement, Windhorst predicted that James would “probably re-sign with the Lakers,” adding that if he chooses not to accept his current contract, there would be opportunities for him and the Lakers to work out a new arrangement. James’ free agency isn’t a huge problem, according to Windhorst, who added that it’s “nothing that’s a surprise at all.”
Windhorst stated he would rule out the Mavs making a bid for Bronny James in free agency, but he did add, “(he) think(s) (James) loves Luka (Doncic),” in response to a question regarding the rumor that the Mavs may draft James in an attempt to entice LeBron to Dallas. I believe there was a moment when he was eager to work with Luka in a partnership. Although he insisted that Luka put on his shoes, Luka took a different course.”

Windhorst then delved into his assessment of Kyrie Irving as Doncic’s future pair mate, saying, “I don’t think the Mavericks should touch anything.” I believe they are on the right track right now; keep it up.”
We then delved into LeBron James’ future following his next possible contract with the Lakers (if he stays), with Windhorst speculating that he will likely remain in Los Angeles while also ruling out the chance of him moving to Dallas.

LeBron won’t go anywhere, according to Windhorst, but he has learned from covering him over the years “that you should never rule anything out.”

Although it appears unlikely that LeBron or Bronny will visit Dallas at this time, there is no denying LeBron’s connections to the Mavs and some of their players. Last summer, Irving made an attempt to entice LeBron to Dallas, and it appears that both he and Doncic would like to work together in the future.
There’s talk that Bronny will only try out for a select few clubs, the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns being two of them. There’s been no word on whether he would consider trying out for the Mavs.

LeBron was a big fan of Doncic growing up, and whenever he gets the chance, LeBron compliments Doncic often. Even if it might not happen this season, LeBron and Doncic together would make for one of the best teams this league has ever seen. Like Windhorst mentioned, you should never rule anything out with LeBron, no matter how remote a possibility it may appear.
