For the first time since requiring meniscus repair surgery yesterday, Novak Djokovic went to social media today in response to the injury he suffered during the French Open this year.

After suffering an injury during his five-set victory over Francisco Cerundolo, the top Serbian tennis player was forced to withdraw from the competition because of a partial meniscus rupture.

He uses social media to express his gratitude to the doctors and to say that he had a tough choice to make.

“After tearing a meniscus in my last match, I had to make some difficult decisions on the last day. Although I’m still getting over everything, I’m glad to let you know that the operation went well.

“I am incredibly grateful for the group of physicians that have supported me,” Novak wrote.
