Following a lower-body injury, Connor McDavid is back in the Oilers lineup.

The Edmonton Oilers faced a setback in their pursuit of the division title with a loss to the Vancouver Canucks, all but ensuring their continued drought in claiming the divisional title. This drought, dating back to the 1986-’87 season, marks the longest in all of North American major professional sports.

Despite their efforts to narrow the gap with the Canucks, the Oilers ultimately fell short in their bid for first place in the Pacific Division. However, the return of Oilers captain Connor McDavid to the lineup after sitting out three games due to a lower-body injury provided a boost to the team as they faced the San Jose Sharks. For the Oilers, having a healthy McDavid back on the ice ahead of the playoffs outweighed the disappointment of missing out on the division title.
