Tom Brady skipped Birmingham City’s Championship season finale in order to get ready to face criticism on Netflix.

After being ‘roasted’ on Netflix over the weekend, David Beckham contacted Tom Brady, an investor in Birmingham City.

Brady was nowhere to be seen on Saturday as the Blues were eliminated from the Championship. Instead, the 46-year-old seven-time Super Bowl champion was getting ready to face criticism from comedians and famous people on Netflix.

Bill Belichick, Brady’s former head coach of the New England Patriots, also joined in on the joke, making fun of his connection to the Blues. “I noticed that your soccer team, Birmingham City, was demoted to a lower division in the English Football League,” Belichick remarked.

“Let me explain it in English for people who are not familiar with English football and the complexities of the complicated relegation system: they are terrible. Tom, is managing a team not that simple?

Some comments were more personal, and Brady has subsequently been contacted by former England football player Beckham, who is currently president of the MLS team Inter Miami. “The idea is humorous all around. It was hilarious. However, I must confess that I did send Tom a message to see whether he was alright,” Beckham remarked. “But I know Tom well.” “He’s fine, but it was difficult to watch,”

Brady spent two days in Birmingham last season watching Championship games. He took in the 0-0 draw with Rotherham United in December as well as the 1-0 victory over Leeds United in August, which he enjoyed a few days after Blues owners Knighthead confirmed his involvement.
