Before the summer and the 2024–25 preseason, former Birmingham City striker Jack Storer has turned to social media in an attempt to find a new team. Brummie striker Storer made his Second City comeback in 2016 after making his breakthrough at Stevenage, paying a five-figure price while Gary Rowett was relishing his first season in charge.

Storer, then a teenager, had a successful pre-season, scoring four goals in first-team friendlies before agreeing to a two-year contract. In the EFL Cup match against Oxford United, he was selected to start alongside players like Josh Dacres-Cogley and Viv Solomon-Otabor, making his league debut in a draw with Cardiff City.
