When JJ Redick was a basketball standout for Duke, he was among the most despised men in the country. The All-American went on to become one of the greatest Blue Devils in program history, playing in the NBA for 15 years before retiring at the end of the 2020–21 campaign.

Even though Redick was despised by all college students, public perception of him has completely changed as he has gradually taken over the basketball scene after retiring from competition.

Following the conclusion of his playing career, he rapidly established himself as a staple on ESPN’s NBA coverage, co-hosting with Mike Breen and Doris Burke. He conducts two popular podcasts, one with LeBron James, in addition to television.

But it appears Redick still has more to do in the world of basketball, even with all of his success in the media.

The former Blue Devil is scheduled to interview for the position of head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic on Monday.

The 39-year-old acknowledged on his podcast that his sole coaching experience is with his son’s AAU club, but he has openly stated an interest in coaching in the past.

The NBA veteran might lead a team that includes three other members of The Brotherhood if he were to become a strong candidate to be the coach.

Prior Blue Devil One of Charlotte’s youthful focal points is Mark Williams, while the Hornets also include big man Marques Bolden and seasoned shooter Seth Curry.

It remains to be seen just how serious the interest is between the two sides. Perhaps the result of the interview could lead to another Blue Devil head coach in the NBA alongside a late-1980s Duke basketball point guard and 1990s assistant under Mike Krzyzewski in the Atlanta Hawks’ Quin Snyder.
