Simeon Barrow, the defensive lineman who transferred to Miami from Michigan State in early May, refuted speculations about his departure from the Hurricanes in a post on X last Thursday. If Barrow had left Miami, he would have needed to request approval from the NCAA to play in the 2024 season. Reports last week indicated that Barrow was considering Missouri. The Inside the U podcast recently discussed why Barrow reportedly left the Miami football team earlier this week, noting that he left practice and returned home to Georgia last week. However, it seems any issues have been resolved.

According to the 247Sports Database, Barrow ranks as the 690th transfer and 69th DL in the 2024 portal. Alongside North Carolina State transfer C.J. Clark and Marley Cook from Middle Tennessee State, Barrow is expected to be a key part of Miami’s defensive tackle rotation in the 2024 season. His decision to remain with Miami is a significant boost to the team’s defensive line. With 110 tackles, 18.5 TFLs, and 10.5 sacks in his collegiate career, Barrow brings valuable experience, having played 34 games with 30 starts.

Miami experienced a successful spring with the addition of several transfers, including Dyoni Hill at cornerback, Tyler Baron at edge rusher, Jaylin Alderman at linebacker, Damien Martinez at running back, and Sam Brown at wide receiver, alongside Simeon Barrow. Apart from these transfers, Miami’s defensive tackle roster for 2024 includes Anthony Campbell, Joshua Horton, and Ahmad Moten, in addition to Barrow, Clark, and Cook.

The team also welcomes newcomers Armondo Blount and Justin Scott, both highly rated recruits, along with Artavius Jones, to compete for playing time this fall. Barrow’s decision to stay with Miami strengthens the team’s defensive tackle rotation, enhancing their overall defensive line, which features an impressive group of edge rushers. Furthermore, the addition of Elijah Alston from Marshall complements Rueben Bain, Akheem Mesidor, and Baron, promising a formidable defensive front for the Hurricanes.
