Los Angeles Rams
Former Rams Quarterback Carson Wentz Signs One-Year Contract With Chiefs.
The Los Angeles Rams have prioritized the backup quarterback position following their defeat to the Green Bay Packers in the previous season, when Brett Rypien struggled to take Matthew Stafford’s place due to injury.
In Week 18, Carson Wentz, who was added by the organization at the close of the previous season, led the Rams to win over the San Francisco 49ers.
Even though Wentz’s return to the Rams appeared certain going into the offseason, they chose to take a different approach by adding Jimmy Garoppolo to back up Stafford in 2024.
According to Jordan Schultz of Bleacher Report, Wentz was left looking for a new team for the 2024 season. He has already found one, as he has agreed to a one-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs:
Wentz will get the chance to support quarterback Patrick Mahomes in 2024 and will be able to learn from both him and head coach Andy Reid, making this a good landing location for him thus late in the offseason.
Even though Wentz’s time with the Rams was brief, both sides benefited from it. Before joining the Los Angeles Rams, the 31-year-old was out of the league entirely. During his brief tenure with the team, he managed to win a game and restore his reputation in the league, which helped him land this position with the Chiefs.
Wentz completed 17 of 24 throws for 163 yards with two touchdowns and one interception in his lone start for the Rams. He added a touchdown and 56 yards of rushing as well.
Wentz probably still thinks of himself as a starter, but the NFL has demonstrated that other people have different opinions, so he deserves praise for taking a backup position with the Rams and now the Chiefs.
Stetson Bennett is anticipated to take part in the Rams’ off-season training.
The Rams also have Stetson Bennett as a quarterback in the lineup in addition to Stafford and Garoppolo. It is anticipated that he would rejoin the squad and take part in exercises this offseason after missing most of his debut campaign due to personal issues.
