The NBA is often viewed as just entertainment, but we shouldn’t forget it’s a job. Unlike life-or-death situations like in The Hunger Games or Running Man, the outcome of NBA games doesn’t have major consequences.

Family, however, is crucial. Former Utah Jazz player, now with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Rudy Gobert prioritized being present for the birth of his child over a playoff game. This decision reflects the importance of family over sports, a sentiment not always shared among NBA players.

The Minnesota Timberwolves managed fine without Rudy Gobert, defeating the Denver Nuggets convincingly. Some critics, like Gilbert Arenas, criticized Gobert for his decision, suggesting the birth of his child could wait until after the game.

However, Arenas failed to acknowledge the potential risks of childbirth. Gobert’s choice to prioritize his family over basketball reflects the importance of parental responsibilities. Arenas’ remarks only serve to diminish his credibility as a commentator.
