Philadelphia Eagles
Four Free Agents Eagles will sign from the Seahawks roster
Prior to winning a Super Bowl with the Eagles, Chris Long and Nick Foles were players with the Rams. Just stating…
There are numerous glaring gaps in the Philadelphia Eagles’ roster, particularly on the defensive end. They will get some of that fixed by the NFL Draft, but they will also get proven players in free agency.
Although their defense wasn’t particularly good in 2023, the Los Angeles Rams did have some assets that the Birds might use in 2024. Even if some of these players aren’t particularly good or reliable game-changers, they might still be useful if they play in the Midnight Green the following season. Let’s talk about a few.
Potential weak points on the Eagles defense could be strengthened by a number of upcoming free agents from the Rams’ 2023 roster.
In 2024, Philadelphia will play the Rams in the West. Could that be retaliation against some of these guys?
1. Ahkello Witherspoon
Ahkello Witherspoon, who is 28 years old, is about to embark on his ninth NFL season. He’s on his third squad right now. Before playing in the most recent season while wearing a Rams uniform, he played for the San Francisco 49ers for his first four seasons, followed by two in Pittsburgh.
He enjoyed the finest season of his career with the Rams, statistically speaking. He started every game for the first time in his career and gave up just 48.1% of completions.
In 2022, James Bradberry allowed a 45.3% completion rate when targeted, while in 2023, he allowed a 59.4% completion rate.
You couldn’t do much worse than Akhello Witherspoon if you’re searching for a reliable cornerback.
2. Jordan Fuller
At the age of 25, Jordan Fuller is starting his sixth NFL season. He played for the Rams for all four seasons, with 2023 being arguably his greatest year. At the end, he had 94 tackles, three interceptions, eight passes defended, and three forced fumbles.
Leading the club in tackles in 2021, he went on injured reserve with an ankle sprain. In 2022, he had a hamstring injury in Week 3 and missed the remainder of the season due to the injury.
So, sure, he gets hurt, but once he got well, he came back stronger than before.
3. Michael Hoecht – Edge
26-year-old Michael Hoecht is starting his fourth NFL season. He is a restricted free agent this year due to his status as an undrafted free agency.
He is the ideal UDFA, in my opinion. In the second half of the 2022 season, he settled into his shoes, but in 2023, he took off. He saw 84.8% of the snaps, recording one forced fumble, six sacks, and six plays.
The Eagles’ ability to sign Hoecht would/should depend on what transpires with Haason Reddick. Although he’s not a one-for-one substitute, he can play the ball well.
