Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo expressed satisfaction with starter Brandon Pfaadt’s performance against the San Diego Padres on Saturday. However, the team’s overall performance at Chase Field left much to be desired, with deficiencies observed in offense, defense, bullpen, and baserunning.

Despite Lovullo’s acknowledgment of the team’s struggles, he emphasized the need to remain resilient and find ways to win games even during tough stretches. The Diamondbacks, who have been outscored 28-2 in the last three games and haven’t won a series in six consecutive attempts, are facing significant challenges.

The game against the Padres saw early setbacks for the Diamondbacks, including a costly baserunning error and defensive miscues that led to unearned runs. Pfaadt’s solid outing was marred by defensive lapses and a late-game collapse, resulting in a lopsided loss.

Lovullo highlighted the team’s offensive struggles, noting a lack of consistency and quality at-bats. The Diamondbacks have struggled to score runs recently, with their offense failing to execute effectively.

Despite the disappointing performance, both Lovullo and outfielder Corbin Carroll emphasized the importance of maintaining composure and learning from adversity. Drawing from past experiences, the team aims to stay focused and make necessary adjustments to turn their fortunes around.

Looking ahead, the Diamondbacks will make roster adjustments and prepare for their next game against the Padres, where pitcher Ryne Nelson will return from the injured list to start for the team.
