Gary Rowett is eager for consecutive home games, beginning with Cardiff City’s visit midweek. Despite a recent defeat against Leicester City, Birmingham City aims to turn that setback into fuel for motivation as they prepare for the first of three remaining home fixtures at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park.

In their previous home game on Easter Monday against Preston North End, the Interim Manager secured his first win since returning to the Club, helping Birmingham City clinch maximum points and halt a three-game winless streak at B9.

In an interview with BluesTV at the Birmingham City Elite Performance and Innovation Centre, Rowett emphasized extracting positives from the loss at Leicester and underscored the upcoming B9 games as a chance to demonstrate the squad’s quality.

“After the Preston match, we got a taste of what to expect in the home games— the atmosphere was fantastic, and there was a positive performance. This season, the team has generally performed better at home than away, which is natural, but it’s an aspect we need to refine further in the next couple of games.”

“This is a crucial week for us, and as I mentioned earlier, no team enjoys that feeling after a defeat. However, facing Leicester away is always a tough challenge, and while we believed we could have come away with a point, it’s important to extract the positives from our performance. Ultimately, weeks like this, with consecutive home games, hold greater significance in shaping our season.

Our focus now shifts to delivering strong performances at home. It’s about maintaining the right intensity and quality both on and off the ball. If we can execute our game plan effectively, I’m confident we can have a successful week and once again, showcase our team’s identity.”

Blues are anticipating another lively home crowd when they face the Bluebirds on Wednesday, April 10th, with kick-off set for 7:45 pm, aiming for back-to-back home victories for the fourth time this season.

Having savored the taste of victory upon his return to St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park, Rowett is eager for more success and stresses the significance of the dedicated Bluenose supporters ahead of the upcoming match.

“It was truly gratifying to be back out there against Preston. That win at home, after a prolonged wait, felt exceptional, and we need to replicate that performance.

We’re well aware that our fans will show up, creating an electric atmosphere, and we must harness that energy. Even if things don’t initially go our way, we must remain patient and committed to our game plan, making it challenging for Cardiff.

As a team, we must collectively rise to the occasion, but one thing is certain: our fans will always bring that unwavering support and electrifying atmosphere.”
