Georgia Bulldogs news: Senior Bowl, hoops loses three straight, former UGA RB accuses Saban of being responsible for the CFP snub, and more
Among the many Bulldogs at the Reese’s Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, was Tykee Smith, a rising star. Additionally, James Cook attributes Georgia’s CFP exclusion to Nick Saban’s retirement.
Although most college football fans are already looking forward to the upcoming season, James Cook, a former running back for the Georgia Bulldogs, is still upset that his alma mater was excluded from the final four College Football Playoff teams. After winning consecutive national titles, Cook offered USA Today his explanation for the committee’s decision to leave the Bulldogs off the roster.
“This year was supposed to be our year. We win it all if Georgia makes it to the postseason this year. The current running back for the Buffalo Bills stated, “I believe they weren’t interested in seeing us go back-to-back.” “We hadn’t been defeated the entire season and only dropped one game against Alabama in the SEC Championship. It reminded me of the same situation from my final year of college. Even though we defeated Alabama in the SEC Championship despite winning every game, we managed to qualify and ultimately win everything. However, it seems to me that they attempted to surreptitiously retire Nick Saban knowing he would.
Even though it might be difficult to argue that Georgia wasn’t among the top four teams in college football this year, things were still very different from Cook’s senior year in 2021.
That season, there were no unbeaten Power Five teams, and Cincinnati (13-0) became the first Group of Five team to win the championship. 10-3 Utah, the Pac 12’s top-ranked team, came in at No. 11, while 11-2 Pittsburgh, the ACC champion, came in at No. 12 in the final CFP rankings.
Bulldogs from Georgia in the Senior Bowl
At the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, this year, the Bulldogs were represented by Tykee Smith, Javon Bullard, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, Ladd McConkey, Daijuan Edwards, and William Mote.
Each played a key role in the American Team’s dominance during the week. Before Saturday’s game, Ladd McConkey was voted the team’s best wide receiver. Bullard was chosen as the team’s best deep safety as well.
In the game, Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint caught the first touchdown, a 29-yard pass from South Carolina’s Spencer Rattler.

The Georgia men’s next game is scheduled for Wednesday in Starkville against Mississippi State.
Javyn Nicholson led the Georgia women’s basketball team to a 72-65 victory over Kentucky on Sunday, contributing 23 points and 13 rebounds. With a 2-7 SEC record, the Bulldogs are now 13th in the conference after the victory ended a seven-game losing streak.
