Georgia Finishes 11th at NCAA Men’s Championships.

INDIA PARK – On the last night of competition at the 2024 NCAA Men’s Swimming & Diving Championships on Saturday at the IU Natatorium, the seasoned members of the University of Georgia men’s swimming and diving team made one last impression on the program.

With 11 student-athletes earning a combined 24 All-America citations, Georgia improved upon its 12th-place, 96-point performance from the previous season to finish 11th overall with 116 points. With 523.5 points, Arizona State won its first NCAA swimming and diving title. Florida came in third, followed by California in second.

Graduate Bradley Dunham went out in style in his last individual competition of his Georgia career, breaking the school record in the morning and being named to the First Team All-America in the evening. With a run of 1:37.58, Dunham finished third in the preliminary round, breaking his own record from the SEC Championships last month. Dunham subsequently earned his first individual podium trip of his career by finishing sixth in the finals with a timing of 1:38.43.

Dunham, along swimming junior Reese Branzell, senior Zach Hils, and senior Dillon Downing, concluded their undergraduate careers by setting a school record in the 400-meter freestyle relay, finishing 13th and earning citations to the Second Team All-America.

Ian Grum, a fifth-year senior, concluded his Bulldog career with All-America honors as well. He placed second on the Second Team in the 200-meter backstroke after finishing in 12th position with a timing of 1:39.70. Ruard van Renen, a sophomore, finished 21st in the morning session in 1:40.67, while Sam Powe, also a sophomore, finished 29th in 1:41.33.

In the 200-meter butterfly, senior Jake Magahey capped off an amazing competition by earning Second Team All-America honors. With a timing of 1:41.81, he finished in 15th place and received four citations for the week.

Branzell placed 25th in the 100-yard freestyle preliminary heats with a time of 42.00; Downing finished 44th at 42.53; Hils finished 49th at 42.58; and Tomas Koski, a freshman, finished 60th at 43.17. With a score of 266.65, junior Allen Mann made his NCAA debut by finishing 42nd on the tower.
