GOOD NEWS: Yet another top prospect from the Braves has been promoted.

Despite the Braves farm system not receiving high regard, their top-level prospects continue to shine. Numerous promotions have occurred in recent weeks, with some even making it to the major league level like Hurston Waldrep and Spencer Schwellenbach. While the pitching prospects have been particularly impressive, the latest promotion highlights one of the Braves’ top position player prospects, Drake Baldwin.

Baldwin, a 23-year-old catcher, was drafted in the third round in 2022 and displayed promise last season by hitting 16 homers with an .844 OPS across three levels (A+-AAA). Although Baldwin’s performance in Mississippi hasn’t matched last season’s tear, batting just .244 with four homers and an OPS of .650, he has shown improvement with 10 RBIs in his last six games, including a home run and a double.

Currently, with Travis d’Arnaud and Sean Murphy on the roster, Baldwin isn’t expected to make a significant impact this season. However, considering d’Arnaud’s advancing age, it might not be long before Baldwin becomes Murphy’s partner behind the plate in Atlanta.
