Newcastle United may find themselves facing competition from Chelsea in their pursuit of one of their primary transfer targets for the upcoming season. Despite Dan Ashworth’s departure to Manchester United, the Magpies have a well-established plan for the summer transfer window. Their recruitment strategy is set and focuses on targeting three crucial positions.

Newcastle United’s search for a versatile forward could lead them to a player they were initially linked with over a year ago. While signing Anthony Gordon, the Magpies also had their sights set on a talent from La Liga, namely Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams. Williams was identified as a potential target for Newcastle in 2024 by iNews last year, serving as an alternative option. Securing Williams would be a dream signing for Toon fans and a significant upgrade over current options like Miguel Almiron and Jacob Murphy. The 21-year-old, known for his remarkable speed, would be a marquee addition to the squad. However, it seems that another Premier League club is also showing interest in him.
