GREAT NEWS: Evero Talks About Brian Burns’ Replacement

Although Brian Burns was a major loss for Carolina’s defense, they have made great strides in his absence.

As the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers, Ejiro Evero most likely had no idea that he would be leading a team without star pass rusher Brian Burns.

He probably knew that something might happen, but there was no guarantee that a deal would occur. For the first time this offseason, Evero spoke with local journalists this past week and discussed the team’s choice to relocate Burns.
“I had a wonderful encounter with Brian. Above all, Brian is a fantastic guy. We had a great year with him, and he’s a brilliant player and fun to be around,” Evero remarked. However, that is the essence of what we do. I have complete faith that Dan and Dave will make the decisions that are best for our team.

Jadeveon Clowney is one of the players the Panthers added to help replace Burns, and he perfectly complements Evero’s defensive style.

“I can’t wait to start JD. It’s the play style that has me truly thrilled. The man is tough, physical, and just plays hard. He plays in the style that we prefer. He finds great solace in being nearer to his residence. He’s been doing fantastically during the first few days of the offseason training. I adore his presence in the building, as well as the wisdom and criticism he bestows on the younger players. We’re thrilled about the addition he will make to our group.

The Panthers pass rush looks to be in far better shape than it was in recent years thanks to Clowney and fellow rookie D.J. Wonnum. Carolina simply doesn’t have the depth, so rather than spending $30 million a year on Burns and a rebuilding squad, they rebuilt his production and then some with K’Lavon Chaisson, Clowney, Wonnum, and maybe a draft pick.
