Football enthusiasts were collectively outraged this week following the posting of an image by an online prankster depicting ‘Half Hibs – Half Hearts’ sportswear. The picture showcased a pair of trainers adorned with images of Gorgie favorite John Robertson on the right foot and Leith legend Franck Sauzee on the left. Their pictures and autographs were printed on the leather tongues of the customized Adidas footwear, accompanied by the inscription ‘Made In Edinburgh’. Additionally, the controversial post included a scarf split between green and maroon halves, bearing both club names and the slogan “Two legends one pair one city”. Numerous Hibs and Hearts supporters in the capital expressed their dismay on social media, denouncing the pristine white trainers as “cringy” and “an abomination.”

One fan remarked, “The only thing Hibs and Hearts fans will agree on is the unsightliness of that scarf.” Another commented, “While it’s important to respect and honor these players individually, any true supporter of either club would never wear this. It’s embarrassingly low-quality.” A third individual wrote, “It’s highly unlikely anyone would purchase these.” Someone else stated, “I am completely offended by that scarf.” Another quipped, “What about the Celtic and Rangers versions?”

However, the original poster, Sole Rebel, who specializes in restoring and customizing used sneakers, later admitted that the post was a hoax after jokingly claiming to have sold four pairs to a friend. Sole Rebel clarified, “I was just kidding, knew I’d get a reaction. They’re two separate pairs. Robertson ones and Sauzee ones. Got the scarf for my mate’s stag do.”
