This summer has proven to be a particularly hectic period for South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer and his football staff. The Gamecocks managed to secure 11 commitments in the month of June, and a substantial number of other USC prospects are scheduled to announce their college decisions in July and August.

One of the targets from Carolina, who was expected to make a decision this summer, is Giyahni Kontosis, a wide receiver from the class of 2025. Kontosis recently included the Gamecocks in his top-6 schools, alongside the Indiana Hoosiers, Tennessee Volunteers, Maryland Terrapins, Cincinnati Bearcats, and Pittsburgh Panthers.

Late on Monday night, Kontosis revealed that he had once again narrowed down his list, this time to 5 schools, removing Pittsburgh from consideration. He also confirmed that he had set a summer commitment date for July 27th for his announcement.

On July 27th, 4-star safety target Lagonza Hayward is scheduled to announce his decision among the South Carolina Gamecocks, Tennessee Volunteers, Florida Gators, and Georgia Bulldogs. The Gamecocks have already secured commitments from two receivers in the 2025 cycle, and are actively pursuing others, including Kontosis.

Despite not having made an official visit to Columbia, Kontosis has consistently mentioned the Gamecocks as one of his top choices since receiving an offer in January. Kontosis, a versatile receiver prospect from the Washington DC area, has experience playing in different positions and possesses solid speed and change-of-direction skills.

At 6’0″ to 6’1″ and 190 pounds, he has good size for the position and potential to add more weight. While he has also played as a defensive back, his future in college is likely at wide receiver.
