Hull FC has announced a dual-registration partnership with Championship team Doncaster for the 2025 season, providing opportunities for players from both clubs to gain additional game time. This collaboration will allow Hull FC’s first-team, reserves, and academy players to play for Doncaster when not selected by head coach John Cartwright, while Doncaster’s emerging talents will also have the chance to participate in Hull’s various age-group teams.

The partnership will debut this weekend as Hull FC players Zach Jebson, Matty Laidlaw, Joe Ward, and Owen Haldenby join Doncaster’s squad for their pre-season friendly against Sheffield Eagles. This agreement also supports the junior pathways program introduced last year, fostering development for players aged 12-18.

Hull FC Chief Executive Richie Myler expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting its role in their long-term player development strategy. “This partnership strengthens our connection with Doncaster and provides vital opportunities for our players. Doncaster has built a competitive squad, and this collaboration will benefit both clubs,” he said.

Doncaster head coach Richard Horne echoed the sentiment, noting the benefits of dual registration over the loan market. “This agreement gives us access to full-time players who bring quality and readiness, crucial for covering gaps in our squad throughout a demanding season,” Horne stated.

The partnership is set to enhance both clubs’ development systems and strengthen their competitive edge in the coming season.
