Zaydrius Rainey-Sale, the standout high school football player considered the top recruit in the state for 2025, has been swift in his decision-making process. Initially committing to the University of Washington on January 8, just hours after the Huskies played in the national championship game, the 4-star linebacker made headlines again by de-committing within an hour of learning that coach Kalen DeBoer was leaving for Alabama four days later.

In a recent positive turn of events, the University of Washington, now under the guidance of Jedd Fisch’s new coaching staff, sought to rekindle their recruiting connection with Rainey-Sale. The Huskies re-offered him, signaling a potential revival of their relationship. While there’s no confirmation of his renewed commitment or future plans with the Huskies, Rainey-Sale expressed gratitude for the re-offer after a positive conversation with Scottie Graham, the new Husky running-backs coach and former Ohio State and NFL rusher.

As the Huskies aim to secure a renewed commitment from the 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker, Rainey-Sale remains a highly sought-after prospect with scholarship offers from esteemed institutions like Alabama, Florida State, Miami, Oregon, and Penn State.

Beyond his athletic prowess, Rainey-Sale symbolizes the local recruit who was absent during DeBoer’s previous recruiting efforts. In a notable departure from the school’s history, the University of Washington had no local scholarship signees when DeBoer introduced 19 new players in December, making Rainey-Sale’s potential commitment crucial for reconnecting with the fan base amid recent coaching and player changes.
