Although the Green Bay Packers have had a busy offseason, the NFL would go crazy over a massive trade proposal for four-time Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore.

Marshon Lattimore

Sayre Bedinger of the Dairyland Express put out a few trade suggestions that the Packers might still be able to make this offseason. One of the more intriguing trade suggestions was for the Packers to get Lattimore from the New Orleans Saints. Other trades included obtaining a seasoned wide receiver such as Tee Higgins or Brandon Aiyuk.

Bedinger stated, “The Saints might be better off keeping Lattimore on the team, but they would also gain by adding a third or fourth-round pick and getting his contract off the books.” “It wouldn’t be the worst for the Packers to spend one or two of their eleven selections in this draft on Lattimore.”

Brian Gutekunst, general manager, could decide.

A Trade for Marshon Lattimore Is Unexpectedly Likely
Although it might seem like a stretch to get a four-time Pro Bowl player, the Packers could certainly consider a trade for Lattimore.

Based on people he spoke with at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, ESPN insider Jeremy Fowler stated that the Saints are thinking about shopping Lattimore. A team that could be interested in making a play for Lattimore this offseason will find that his contract is considerably more manageable thanks to a recent restructuring.

The Packers will always have an abundance of cap room at their disposal. Despite a busy free agent period, the Packers still have $22 million in salary space, according to Over the salary. That figure

up to a maximum of $68 million by 2025.

For upcoming seasons, the Saints must keep cutting the salary cap in the meantime. With major movement and contract restructures this offseason, New Orleans was able to come under the quota; yet, they will still be $73 million above the cap in 2025—nearly $50 million more than the second-worst cap space in the league for the upcoming season.

For a team like the Packers, moving Lattimore now in exchange for some selection capital may make the 27-year-old a genuine trade target.

What’s in store for Jaire Alexander in the future?
Jaire Alexander, an All-Pro cornerback, may have more doubts about his future if the Packers decide to pursue a star player like Lattimore.

At the beginning of the offseason, general manager Brian Gutekunst swiftly put an end to any talk of the team trading Alexander. In response to a question regarding the likelihood, Gutekunst gave a simple, “no” response.

Even if the Packers were interested in dealing Alexander away, it would be far more difficult to trade him due to his contract than it was to move Lattimore. A trade made before June 1st would incur a nearly $26 million dead cap penalty.

Alexander should be encouraged about his prospects of having a career season under new defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, considering he is still under contract through the 2026 campaign. Defense back development is one of the former Boston College head coach’s specialties, and with his new defensive scheme and expertise, Alexander might be able to regain his All-Pro status in

2024 and later.

Alexander might provide Green Bay with one of the strongest secondaries in the NFL if he is paired with newly acquired safety Xavier McKinney and another elite cornerback in Lattimore.
