In Alex Dicken’s notebook: proposed stadium proposals for Birmingham City and Norwich blow

A blow for Norwich City, Lukas Jutkiewicz, John Eustace, and a proposal for a Birmingham City stadium can be found in Alex Dicken’s most recent notebook.

A thrilling, game-ending match between Norwich City and Birmingham City has been set up as a result of the former’s inability to hold onto their advantage over Huddersfield Town. If Blues don’t win, they won’t be in League One the next year.

The Blues’ season was exemplified by the draw against Huddersfield. They put themselves in a strong position, but they mishandled the game, let up a simple goal, and showed little resiliency after Rhys Healey tied the score.

Veteran striker Lukas Jutkiewicz was particularly irritated by Huddersfield’s equalizer less than two minutes into the second half, considering the stakes involved. “We knew what was going to happen at the beginning of the second half,” he stated. They are fighting for their life, and you knew that we would have to weather the storm for the first ten or fifteen minutes while they were on top of us.

And that’s not what we did. It was a bad goal and a bad time to concede, and it has also been somewhat of a theme for us—giving up goals at unexpected periods, like against Watford before halftime and in injury time. The fact that we were unable to effectively oversee the game is quite annoying.

A setback for Norwich

Everyone is curious about Norwich manager David Wagner’s potential strength at St Andrew’s. The last time he led a team guaranteed a spot in the play-offs to B9 at the end of the regular season, he made significant adjustments. With ten men, Blues defeated his Huddersfield club 2-0, and the EFL opened an investigation to ensure that it wouldn’t happen again.

Wagner will probably make adjustments, but it’s possible that he won’t have Ashley Barnes, his more seasoned striker. Barnes replaced Swansea on Saturday but left the game hobbling with an injury.

And possibly a setback for Eustace

Ironically, one of the teams that Blues are trying to surpass on the last day is managed by former Blues manager John Eustace. Eustace’s Blackburn Rovers need one more point when they travel to Leicester City, who will play in the Premier League.

Eustace may not be able to take his spot on the touchline, but he will travel to the King Power Stadium. During Blackburn’s 0-0 draw with Coventry on Saturday, the 44-year-old was sent to the stands following an altercation with Sky Blues midfielder Casey Palmer.
