The New York Islanders are gearing up to face off against the Carolina Hurricanes in the opening round of the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Entering the playoffs as the third seed in the Metropolitan Division, the Islanders will clash with the second-seeded Hurricanes, setting the stage for a rematch from last year’s postseason showdown and fueling the intensity with their divisional rivalry.

Leading the charge for the Islanders are Brock Nelson and Bo Horvat, both tied with 33 goals, while Mathew Barzal tops the team in points with 80, and Noah Dobson leads in assists with 70.

On the Hurricanes’ side, Sebastian Aho shines with 36 goals and 89 points, while Seth Jarvis boasts 13 power-play goals, spearheading their offensive efforts.

This playoff encounter marks the third time the Islanders and Hurricanes have met in the postseason, with Carolina claiming victory in both previous meetings, 4-0 in 2019 and 4-2 in 2023.

During the regular season, the Islanders and Hurricanes faced off four times, resulting in a 2-1-1 record in favor of the Islanders.
