Zach LaVine and the Chicago Bulls are experiencing a decline in their circumstances.

The Bulls declared on Saturday that LaVine has chosen to have surgery on his broken right foot, which will terminate the season. The choice was decided after consulting with the Bulls medical staff and LaVine’s management, Klutch Sports.

The club estimates that LaVine will need four to six months to recuperate.

LaVine suffered a right ankle sprain on January 18 and hasn’t played since. Although the injury was not considered significant at the time, LaVine’s long-standing foot problems flared up as a result of the new problem. This procedure is presumably an attempt to permanently fix that issue.

The injury’s biggest effect on the 23-26 Bulls will probably be felt off the field. Even though his market did not seem to be strong, LaVine had been a popular trade asset for several months and was still being linked to multiple teams. The Bulls are most likely done with him now, but they had hoped to acquire at least one good player for him.

LaVine was second on the team in scoring per game with an average of 19.5 in 25 games this season.
