The Philadelphia 76ers are looking to enhance their roster after being eliminated from the playoffs. With their financial flexibility, they have the opportunity to make strategic moves. One player who could significantly elevate their team is Mikal Bridges.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz, a trade proposal involving Bridges heading to the Sixers was outlined. Swartz suggested a trade between the Sixers and the Brooklyn Nets:

76ers Receive: Mikal Bridges, Dorian Finney-Smith
Nets Receive: 2024 first-round pick (No. 16 overall), 2026 first-round pick (the least favorable of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, or Los Angeles Clippers), 2030 first-round pick, 2027 and 2028 second-round picks

Swartz highlighted Bridges’ attributes that make him an ideal fit for the Sixers, emphasizing his durability, defensive prowess, and three-point shooting. Additionally, he noted that adding Finney-Smith would provide versatility and defensive strength to the Sixers’ lineup.

Bridges, currently in the third year of a four-year, $90 million contract, was initially drafted by the Sixers in 2018 but was traded to the Phoenix Suns.

While there’s no indication that the Nets intend to trade Bridges, Swartz argued that the Nets might benefit from capitalizing on his value given their recent performance. He suggested that Bridges may not be thriving in Brooklyn’s offensive system and could excel in a different environment.

If Bridges is not available, the Sixers are reportedly interested in pursuing other wing players in free agency. NBA Insider Marc Stein identified the Sixers as a significant contender to sign Paul George away from the Los Angeles Clippers, indicating their aggressive pursuit of top talent.

While George has a more established track record than Bridges, the Sixers are exploring various options to bolster their roster and contend for a championship.
