Ipswich Town: A first look at the plans for the new training facility

Following the £1.5 million installation of three brand-new pitches at Playford Road last season, attention shifted to improving the surrounding structures and amenities.

Designing a “world class” setup fell to Liverpool-based architects KKA, who created Bristol City’s new training facility and stadium during Town CEO Mark Ashton’s tenure.

After Ashton recently shown those designs to players and staff, the EADT and Ipswich Star are now able to share those designs with you for the first time.

This is how the new “performance center” for Ipswich Town will be designed.

In November, during an interview with the EADT and the Ipswich Star, Ashton was questioned over the duration of the training ground reconstruction.

He clarified, saying, “Ideally, I would like to start construction before the summer, which means you’ll probably have a 10–12 month build period. We’re going to go really quickly.”
