At the age of 29, a former star of the Fremantle Dockers passed away.

According to The West Australian, Cam McCarthy was discovered dead on Thursday night following a police and ambulance call to a Lake Coogee property.

“A 29-year-old male was confirmed to be deceased upon arrival,” according to the police.

“The death is not being investigated further.

“A report for the coroner will be prepared.”

At choice No. 14 in the 2013 national draft, GWS selected the football player from Washington state.

Before departing the Sydney team at the conclusion of the 2015 season, he appeared in 21 games for the Giants, claiming mental health concerns and homesickness.

Prior to being selected by the Dockers, McCarthy stood out in AFL football for attempting to arrange a trade to Fremantle for the 2016 campaign.

The gifted forward was delisted at the conclusion of the 2020 season after appearing in 49 games across four seasons with Fremantle in 2017.
