Kieffer Moore successfully converted a penalty in the shootout, but Wales ultimately missed out on qualifying for Euro 2024 after a 5-4 defeat on penalties to Poland. The match ended in a goalless draw after extra time at the Cardiff City Stadium, with fellow Cardiff player Nathan Broadhead making a substitute appearance.

Moore, earning his 41st cap, played the entire 120 minutes and came close to scoring multiple times, including setting up a disallowed goal for Ben Davies in a dominant first half for Wales.

Broadhead, earning his 11th cap, entered the game in the 113th minute as Poland gained momentum in extra time, despite failing to register a shot on target throughout the match.

In the final moments, Wales were reduced to 10 men when Mepham received a second yellow card, leading to a penalty shootout where every player, including Moore who hit the underside of the bar with his shot, scored until Daniel James had his attempt saved by Wojciech Szczesny.

As a result of the defeat, Moore, Broadhead, and Wes Burns, who was initially part of the squad before his hamstring injury, will not be participating in this summer’s tournament in Germany.
