In Part 3 of his We Saw You interview, Jared “Jay B.” Boyd discusses his journey in journalism, which commenced with an internship at the Jackson (Mississippi) Free Press magazine. He then progressed to roles at The Commercial Appeal, The (Mobile, Alabama) Press-Register, and The Daily Memphian newspapers.

Boyd’s aspiration upon returning to Memphis was to secure a spot on the Memphis Flyer’s 20 < 30 list within five years. “I aimed to grace that cover,” he remarks. “By the time I hit 30, I wanted to have accomplished enough to earn that recognition.”

Throughout his career, Boyd took on various roles, including those of a “public safety reporter” and “courtroom observer,” while also covering music and culinary topics for newspapers.
