Over the weekend, Dalton (Ga.) High School celebrated the achievements of one of its most dynamic football players, Jahmyr Gibbs. Known for electrifying performances every Friday night, Gibbs captivated fans with his prowess as a running back, wide receiver, return specialist, and wildcat quarterback during his time at Dalton.

After dominating the high school scene, Gibbs continued his football journey at Georgia Tech for two seasons before transferring to the University of Alabama. His impact was immediate, highlighted by a memorable long touchdown run during Alabama’s A-Day game in the spring of 2022.

In just one season with the Crimson Tide, Gibbs emerged as a standout, amassing impressive statistics including 926 rushing yards, 444 receiving yards, and 10 touchdowns. His contributions were instrumental in Alabama’s success, culminating in a victory at the Allstate Sugar Bowl over Kansas State. Gibbs’ stellar performance earned him a first-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions, where he enjoyed a successful rookie campaign.

Returning to Dalton, Georgia, Gibbs received the honor of having his high school jersey retired, marking a fitting tribute to his remarkable football journey.
