The Cleveland Browns expressed interest in bringing back Joe Flacco, and Flacco himself was keen on returning. However, their reunion didn’t materialize this time around. Instead, Flacco has reached an agreement on a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts, as confirmed by PFT. The deal includes $4.5 million guaranteed, with the potential to earn an additional $4.2 million through incentives.

During the 2023 season, Flacco initially signed with the Browns on a $1.8 million contract with $4.05 million in incentives. He played a crucial role, going 4-1 as a starter and helping the team secure a playoff spot, earning him the comeback player of the year award. Flacco’s performance included completing 60.3% of his passes for 1,616 yards, 13 touchdowns, and eight interceptions. However, the postseason didn’t end well for him, with a disappointing performance in a loss to the Houston Texans.

While the Colts currently have Anthony Richardson as their starting quarterback, his limited playing time last season and subsequent shoulder surgery have created uncertainty. Flacco has a connection with Colts coach Shane Steichen from their time together with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2021, where Flacco served as Jalen Hurts’ backup. Despite this familiarity, Flacco was traded back to the New York Jets without taking the field for the Eagles. At 39 years old, Flacco, the 18th overall pick in the 2008 draft, brings experience to the Colts’ quarterback room.
