John Souttar says he won’t start the Dundee vs. Rangers game in front of no supporters because that would be the worst-case scenario.

The Scotland international maintains that it isn’t even appropriate to think about playing in private.

The idea of playing Rangers’ match against Dundee behind closed doors, according to John Souttar, shouldn’t even be considered.

The Premiership match at Dens Park was rescheduled Friday night for a second time due to a pitch inspection that revealed the troublesome surface had failed once more. According to Phillipe Clement, the Gers were prepared to move the game’s start date forward by 24 hours in order to eventually proceed, but the SPFL turned down their request. It has now been moved to Wednesday of next week, a date that Clement feels disadvantages the Light Blues ahead of their Scottish Cup semi-final matchup with Hearts at Hampden a week on Sunday.

Dens Park may not escape a SIXTH washout, as further rain is predicted for the day of the rescheduled game next week. Worst-case emergency measures have been proposed, such as shifting the match to a neutral location or even playing behind closed doors, but Souttar argues the latter should not even be entertained.

“You want to play in front of fans,” stated the defender for the Rangers. I believe each and every player would attest to that. It was not the same as the Covid season. Although the intensity wasn’t the same, maybe it won’t be an issue for us. There are ifs, buts, and maybes in this situation.”

Souttar and his teammates are totally focused on achieving a historic Treble-winning season despite the Rangers’ erratic schedule. The Scotland international stated: “It’s no secret that my previous season wasn’t the best. When I signed up here, this wasn’t what I had imagined. But with the games I’ve played and the time I’ve spent on the field this season, I’ve already made up for lost time.

“I’ll probably reflect on the season in the summer and hope for a fantastic conclusion. To make sure it’s one we will remember for the rest of our lives, I will be doing everything I can individually, and everyone in the changing room will be doing everything they can collectively.”
