The Blue Devil head coach is excited to get the top ranked recruit on campus this summer
Cooper Flagg’s arrival on campus this summer is already being planned for by the Duke basketball team and coaching staff.

When recruiting this autumn, the top overall prospect chose the Blue Devils over UConn.

In addition to the attention that Duke’s collegiate basketball program already receives from the general basketball public, Flagg’s presence will attract the attention of NBA talent evaluators, as it is anticipated that the 6-foot-9 forward will be selected first overall in the 2025 NBA Draft.

“It’s been a joy to watch him play in high school because no matter when I’ve seen him, whether it’s Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. after playing for a few days or whether it’s watching him play on ESPN in the National Championship Game this year, he always plays the same way,” Jon Scheyer said to the ACC Network during the league’s spring conference.

Flagg was the recipient of almost all individual honors this season, including Gatorade National Player of the Year, Mr. Basketball USA, and Naismith Prep Player of the Year.

“He always competes, 100% effort, and I think that’s a separator,” Scheyer continued.

“Obviously, you look at his athleticism, talent, size, and skill is off the charts, but, to me, it’s how he competes and who he is as a teammate.”

The nation’s top recruiting class, which also includes Darren Harris, Khaman Maluach, Isaiah Evans, Patrick Ngongba II, Kon Knueppel, and Khaman Maluach, is led by Cooper Flagg.

Flagg led Montverde Academy (Fla.) to a 34-0 record and a title during his senior year, averaging 16.4 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 2.7 blocks per game.

In addition, he took part in the Jordan Brand Classic, Nike Hoop Summit, and McDonald’s All-American Game.

In a few weeks, Cooper Flagg and the rest of the Blue Devils’ incoming freshmen class should be in Durham for summer practices.
