For the Packers in his one and only season in Green Bay, Owens started 11 games. He will ink a two-year contract with the Bears on Wednesday.

Jonathan Owens, a former safety for the Green Bay Packers, has agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears, according NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. When the NFL’s official free agency period kicks off on Wednesday, Owens will sign a two-year contract with the Bears.

Owens joined the Packers last season on a one-year, $1.01 million deal as an inexpensive experienced addition to their safety room. Green Bay had Owens and Rudy Ford splitting time at safety opposite Darnell Savage with Adrian Amos on his way out. Owens ended up starting 11 games for the Packers after beginning the season with the Houston Texans with 17.

General manager Brian Gutekunst will need to pair McKinney with someone this offseason, whether it’s through the draft or free agency.
