The head coach of Liverpool will leave the football team after more than nine years at Anfield.

Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has informed the club’s ownership that he plans to step down at the end of the 2023–2024 season.

Since taking over as manager of Liverpool in October 2015, Klopp has led a radical change at Anfield. The Reds have won the FIFA Club World Cup, FA Cup, League Cup, UEFA Super Cup, Champions League, Premier League, and FA Cup under his leadership.

“I know it’s a shock for many people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it,” Klopp said in an interview with Liverpoolfc.com.

“I adore everything about this team, the staff, the city, our supporters, and this club in general. My favorite things are all together. I adore everything. However, the fact that I am still going with this choice indicates to you how certain I am that it is the right one.

The fact is, I’m, how shall I put it, exhausted. Naturally, I have no issues at all right now. I have known for a while that I will eventually need to make an announcement, but for now, everything is perfect. I am aware that I am unable to complete the task repeatedly.

“The respect and love I had for you grew over the years we spent together, the time we spent together, and the things we experienced together, and the truth is the least I owe you,” the speaker said.

Vitor Matos, the coach of elite development, and Pepijn Lijnders, Peter Krawietz, and Klopp’s deputy managers, will all leave the team. Lijnders is “keen to pursue his own career in management,” according to the club.

This season, Liverpool is still competing in four competitions: the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, and the Europa League. While Chelsea will play Liverpool at Wembley in the Carabao Cup next month, Arsenal will play Klopp’s team in the league.
