JUST IN: $100 million Eagles star to be traded to the Bears in a blockbuster deal

Even though standout receiver A.J. Brown has made an effort to strengthen his loyalty to the Philadelphia Eagles, trade speculations continue to circulate. A few possible trade packages containing Brown were assembled by Bleacher Report for the Eagles to consider. The Eagles have sent Brown to the Chicago Bears in return for the ninth overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, according to one interesting trade proposal.

In a live webcast on March 7, 2024, Bleacher Report’s Jake Ellenbogen said, “If they do draft Caleb Williams, they trade away Justin Fields.” “They get [draft selections for Fields] maybe a second and a fourth.” That first-round pick [No. 9] is still theirs. Furthermore, Caleb Williams will either be shielded by that first-round pick or able to use it to his advantage.

“So, in my perspective, why not go get A.J. Brown if they’re going to go for a weapon? You grouped him with Moore, D.J. Cole Kmet is with you. Giving those weapons to a kid just out of college is quite the vicious trifecta.

The four-year, $100 million contract of Eagles star A.J. Brown is valid through 2026.

The Bears should make sense off of this move for several reasons. Caleb Williams would have every opportunity to thrive in the NFL if he had two reliable playmakers in Brown and D.J. Moore. Williams was a standout player at USC.

Why would Eagles general manager Howie Roseman entertain such a deal? Since that Brown’s four-year, $100 million contract is scheduled to expire after the 2026 season, there are undoubtedly financial ramifications.

With a salary of $1.1 million and a cap hit of $12.4 million, Brown is still a great deal for 2024. However, in 2025, this ceiling amount increases to a whopping $26.5 million. In 2026, Brown’s cap hit will be an enormous $41.5 million.

Eagles Rumor: Would Trading A.J. Brown for a Top-10 Draft Pick Make Sense for Philadelphia?

The problem is that by the time the No. 9 pick arrives, the best receivers will probably already be selected. In Dane Brugler of The Athletic’s most recent mock draft, Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Odunze, and Malik Nabers are all chosen in the first six picks.

In this fictitious scenario, Philly might choose to take a later pick in the draft to choose a receiver and address another position, like cornerback, with No. 9. However, a significant void in offensive production remains after this deal. In 17 starts last season, Brown recorded a career-high 106 receptions for 1,456 yards and 7 touchdowns.

Regarding Eagles Trade Rumors, A.J. Brown says, “I Want to Be Here”

Though a lot of speculation has been made about his future, Brown has stated that he wants to stay in Philadelphia. Brown dispelled the trade speculations when he called into 94 WIP Philadelphia back in February.

“A.J. Brown just gave @SportsRadioWIP a call. When asked about his feelings about being a member of the Eagles roster, he responded, “I want to be here.” That is all there is to it. I adore my current location; it’s as simple as that. What comes next? EJ Smith of The Philadelphia Inquirer wrote a slew of messages on X on February 23.
