JUST IN: ATLANTA FALCONS expected to sign Russell Wilson, Draft Bo Nix?

The Atlanta Falcons possess a well-rounded roster with talent on both offense and defense. However, their struggles at the crucial quarterback position have hindered them from reaching their full potential. Despite having better options, the team experimented with second-year quarterback Desmond Ridder, who faced difficulties throughout the season, impacting the team negatively. Backup quarterback Taylor Heinicke also failed to make a significant impact when filling in for Ridder. It’s widely expected that the Falcons will acquire a new quarterback during the offseason.

ESPN goes a step further in its predictions, suggesting that the Falcons will not only sign one quarterback but two. The first quarterback in question is Russell Wilson from the Denver Broncos. Wilson, who faced a late-season benching, is likely to part ways with the Broncos in the upcoming offseason. ESPN anticipates the Falcons signing Wilson to a three-year deal worth $36 million in free agency, with $20 million guaranteed in the front-loaded contract. The reasoning behind this move is the Falcons’ determination to win with their current roster, and Wilson is considered the best available option due to his experience. The contract terms also allow for a relatively painless separation if the partnership doesn’t yield the desired results.

Despite Wilson’s recent challenges in Denver, ESPN believes that with the support of playmakers like Bijan Robinson, Tyler Allgeier, Drake London, and Kyle Pitts, he could revitalize his performance in Atlanta.

The second quarterback predicted by ESPN to join the Falcons is Bo Nix from Oregon, expected to be drafted at No. 74 overall. Described as a valuable selection at this point in the draft, Nix is seen as a developmental option under the assumption that Wilson is the confirmed starter for the next one to three seasons. Nix has displayed consistent improvement throughout his career, completing 77% of his passes in the most recent season with impressive touchdown and interception figures. ESPN suggests that Nix, along with Desmond Ridder, could compete for the backup quarterback position.

Bo Nix, who finished third in Heisman Trophy voting, saw significant success at Oregon after transferring from Auburn. Over his two seasons with the Ducks, Nix showcased impressive passing stats and contributed as a threat on the ground.

If ESPN’s predictions come to fruition, the Falcons could potentially solidify their quarterback position for the foreseeable future with the combination of Russell Wilson and Bo Nix.
