JUST IN: Brooklyn Nets Fire Former San Antonio Spurs Player Jacque Vaughn

A former assistant with the San Antonio Spurs is trying to find work.

The Brooklyn Nets have fired coach Jacque Vaughn, who was Gregg Popovich’s assistant coach from 2010 to 2012 and a player for the Spurs from 2006 to 2009. This information comes from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Prior to the All-Star Break, Vaughn, 49, had the Nets at 21-33. The team lost by 50 points to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.

At the All-Star Break the following weekend, there will be a larger presence from the San Antonio Spurs.

Shaedon Sharpe, the guard for the Portland Trail Blazers who is injured, will be replaced at the Rising Stars Challenge by Jeremy Sochan, the league stated Wednesday.

Chet Holmgren, Jalen Williams, Bennedict Mathurin, Dereck Lively II, Jordan Hawkins, Jordan Hawkins, New Orleans Pelicans, Walker Kessler, and Utah Jazz are the other members of “Team Jalen Rose” that include Sochan.

On Friday, February 16, the Rising Stars Challenge is set to begin at 8 p.m. CT.

JAN 7 SPURS LOSE 30 GAMES, SET A NEW RECORD For the eighth consecutive year, the San Antonio Spurs finished the season with a 5-30 record after losing 30 games. Twice since the Spurs’ 1976 NBA entry, the team has enjoyed a six-season run.

It’s conceivable that the Spurs have more losses to come. The squad is headed for a 12-70 season, which would be the worst in franchise history, with more than half of the season remaining.

MURRAY DEJOUNTE ON THE TRADE BLOCK JAN 5. Jake Fischer of Yahoo says that the former All-Star has been “made widely available, according to league sources, two years after trading three first-round picks to acquire Murray from San Antonio.”

On Monday, the team declared that Mamadi Diakite had been signed to a two-way contract. Following Charles Bediako’s waiver last week, the action was taken.

With the Virginia Cavaliers, Diakite, 26, won a National Championship in 2019. He has played in 49 NBA games with the Milwaukee Bucks, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Cleveland Cavaliers.

At the half of their game against the New Orleans Pelicans on December 17, the San Antonio Spurs honor Tony Parker. Nine has now been decommissioned from the Frost Bank Center and has been awarded the “Hall of Fame” badge.

“You’re by far, by far, the best fans in the world,” Parker said as he applauded the audience.I am from San Antonio, and I will always be here.

Parker played for the Spurs for 17 seasons; he was a four-time All-NBA player, a six-time All-Star, and the MVP of the 2007 Finals.

With 6,829 assists, he is still the Spurs’ all-time assist leader.

MURRAY LIKES CRYPTIC TWEETS, December 15. Dejounte Murray, a former All-Star point guard, “liked” two Tweets implying that he is dissatisfied in Atlanta.

According to the first, posted by user @CbTurner6, he wasn’t getting enough playing time. The second, from his father @TeamMurray05, was a simple criticism of the group.

Murray can activate his player option in 2027, the year he is not yet under contract.

SPURS SIGN DAVID DUKE JR. DEC. 14. The roster of the San Antonio Spurs is growing.

The Spurs are reportedly inking guard David Duke Jr. from the Delaware Blue Coats to a two-way contract, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

From 2021–2023, Duke participated in 45 games for the Brooklyn Nets.

December 13: WEMBY vs. LEBRON POSTPONED LeBron James, the star forward for the Los Angeles Lakers, will miss his team’s first game against the San Antonio Spurs due to what coach Darvin Ham described as a “ongoing process.”

James was not allowed to play in the second night of a back-to-back because he is still recovering from a calf ailment. If all goes according to plan, he should be back in action on Friday for the Lakers’ second game against the Spurs.

Anthony Davis and Victor Wembanyama will both participate.

The fight between “The King” and “The Extraterrestrial” will have to wait.

SPURS MAKE G LEAGUE SWAP DEC 10 Players are being shuttled back and forth between Austin and San Antonio by the San Antonio Spurs.

The team declared that Sandro Mamukelashvili would return to San Antonio and Charles Bassey would go to Austin.

In Saturday’s victory over the Texas Legends, Mamukelashvili demonstrated why he should be in San Antonio by scoring 34 points and grabbing 22 rebounds.

AUSTIN IS ASSIGNED TO BLAKE WESLEY, SANDRO MAMUKELASHVILI, DEC 9. There are two minor roster adjustments for the San Antonio Spurs.

Before the Spurs’ matchup with the Texas Legends on Saturday, second-year guard Blake Wesley and third-year big Sandro Mamukelashvili are on their way to Austin. Given that the Spurs have Monday off, Wesley and Mamukelashvili might return in time to play without missing a match.
