BALTIMORE RAVENS

JUST IN: Notes from the Ravens Combine: Official Meeting With Houston Tackle Scheduled

Houston’s Patrick Paul isn’t quite the same prospect as the best in his class, but he’s been one of the more reliable tackles in college.

He’s so great that the Baltimore Ravens have already set up a 2024 Scouting Combine meeting with him.

Although Paul, 23, is an athletic freak who should do well at the Scouting Combine, he may end up being a project at left or right tackle in 2024. Fortunately for the Ravens, the job isn’t exactly the most demanding in the world.

Injuries have plagued left tackle Ronnie Stanley over the years; in 2023, injuries also beset swing tackle Patrick Mekari and Morgan Moses. In light of guards like John Simpson and Kevin Zeitler’s impending free agency, the Ravens might be prudent to address the offensive line in the 2024 Draft.

Paul is a player who aligns well with Baltimore’s objectives. At 6-7, he is one of the class’s biggest tacklers and possesses the athleticism to develop into a reliable starter at the position.

With the 30th overall pick in the first round of the April Draft, Baltimore will undoubtedly consider tackles other than Paul. The Ravens may choose to select other players, such as offensive guard Graham Barton and possibly a few edge rushers.

Even while the Chicago Bears don’t officially start Day 1 of the draft until much later, the visits that have already taken place provide a decent idea of the kind of players that a team like the Ravens would be considering.
