JUST IN: Legendary former Raptors player traded to the Hornets before the deadline

Kyle Lowry is moving to a new address. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the former Toronto Raptors legend has reportedly been traded to the Charlotte Hornets for Terry Rozier and a lottery-protected first-round selection in 2027, after spending two and a half seasons with the Miami Heat. It was clear that Lowry’s time with the team was running out since he had dropped out of the starting lineup in Miami.

In addition to adding offensive firepower, Rozier gives the Heat another skilled ballhandler to go with Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler. This season, the 29-year-old guard is averaging 23.2 points while shooting 35.8% from three-point range and 45.9% from the field.

According to reports, the Hornets would prefer to move Lowry and his $29.7 million contract before the trade deadline rather than buying him out. Which teams might be interested in signing the 6-foot point guard are unknown.

Lowry had expressed his intention to play on after this season. Despite his modest season average of 8.2 points and four assists, he expressed confidence in his ability to help teams compete in the postseason.

In the event that Lowry decides to end his career, he has stated that he intends to sign a one-day deal with the Raptors. Prior to his official departure from the NBA, he want to retire as a member of the franchise.

If Lowry stays with the Hornets, he might play his final NBA game at Scotiabank Arena on March 3 when he returns to Toronto after facing the Raptors in Charlotte on February 7.
