Josh Carr, the assistant coach for Port Adelaide Power, has announced that Zak Butters will be ready for Round 1.

On March 1, during the Power’s preseason Community Series match against Fremantle, the top midfielder hurt his right ankle.

But Butters has passed his fitness test, and they have two weeks until their season-opening match.

When Port Adelaide takes on the West Coast Eagles at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday, the 23-year-old is expected to start.

According to Afl.com, Power assistant coach Josh Carr stated on Monday, “Lock in Butters, definitely.”

You can’t really hold him back, in my opinion. He is prepared and ready to travel, having completed all the necessary duties.”

This season, Butters will play a crucial role in Port Adelaide’s campaign. To date, the midfield player has scored 55 goals in 93 AFL games.

The 181-centimeter, 78-kg midfielder, who also serves as the squad’s vice captain, had an outstanding season last year as a member of the All Australian team.

Additionally, according to a West Australian story, Port Adelaide has confirmed that Charlie Dixon will be fit for the opening game against the West Coast.

With his goal of finishing the 2024 season, veteran forward Dixon has had a difficult preseason under management.

Ollie Lord, though, won’t be available for Port Adelaide’s season-opening matchup with the Eagles. He may miss the first 10 weeks of the season due to a knee injury he sustained on Saturday during practice.

Despite having a fractured tibia, assistant coach Carr stated it is doubtful that he will require surgery, thus he should recover much faster and be more fit.
