JUST IN: Remington Moss 2025 DB remains committed to Badgers despite the loss of Colin Hitschler

Early in the spring, co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Colin Hitschler left the Wisconsin Badgers to take a similar position with the Alabama Crimson Tide, which dealt a blow to the coaching staff.
With Wisconsin having already signed 2025 defensive back Remington Moss in addition to athletes Cody Haddad and Jaimier Scott, Hitschler’s departure raised concerns about the Badgers’ commitments in the safety room.
This past weekend, Moss, the second commit in the class for the Badgers, attended Wisconsin’s second junior day. It was there that he witnessed the much awaited hockey game against Minnesota and the top-ten basketball matchup against Purdue.
Moss praised the visit, saying, “It was great.” “I’m so glad to be back. Observing two very competitive sporting events and speaking with the coaches was a major highlight.
It was also Moss’s first face-to-face meeting with the recently hired Alex Grinch, the safeties coach who had been Wisconsin’s last staff member.
Over the weekend, the two had several conversations in which they discussed various events including a portion of Moss’s film.
“He’s a good guy and he’s from the midwest and he’s pretty straightforward,” Moss said of Grinch. “He gave me some good advice on what to work on right now which is great so I can improve more for when I get there.”
Is there any uncertainty with Moss’s commitment to Wisconsin after the departure of Hitschler? No.
In a nice gesture, Hitschler himself told Moss that the Badgers would still be a great fit even after he departed, despite being the safety’s main recruiter at Wisconsin.
Even though Hitch recruited me first, Moss said, “Hitch told me himself after I congratulated him that I’m in a great place, so that made me more comfortable being here.”
The fact that Wisconsin’s recruiting specialists invest a great deal of time in each recruit—including Moss—sets the state’s scouting department apart from previous years.
As one of the first recruits during the Luke Fickell era, Moss has direct knowledge of how Wisconsin’s culture differs from other universities, highlighting the preference for four-year athletes over those who must use the portal.
“It’s different from other [schools] for one cause it’s not portal heavy and he wants players that can be here for 3-5 years,” Moss shared. “I also notice that the coaching staff looks like a family and they have a history of building a great program at Cincinnati. If he could do that at Cinci, what do you think will happen in 3-4 years from now with more resources?”
The Badgers continue to remain in a good spot with Moss, who was one of the few commits on campus this past weekend.
