Will this be the Mountaineers’ first road victory?

Today marks the start of West Virginia’s two-game road trip through Texas in an attempt to sweep the Longhorns this season.

Texas has a 93.6% likelihood of winning, while West Virginia only has a 6.4% chance, according to the ESPN BPI.

Texas turned the ball over 22 times and forced WVU to the free throw line 41 times in their previous meeting. Together, Max Abmas and Dylan Disu scored 50 points out of the team’s 73 points, hitting 16 of their 29 field goals. With four players scoring in double figures, the Mountaineers’ offensive attack was more evenly distributed. With 16 points, Pat Suemnick led the way. Suemnick replaced the injured Jesse Edwards, who is expected to be available for this game.

Despite playing rated teams, Texas has lost three of its last four games. With a record of 4-6 in the Big 12 Conference, they are in danger of losing another game to a bottom-tier opponent. Not only would this affect their ranking in the conference, but it would also affect their prospects of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament.

The past week off was much-needed for West Virginia. For the first time this season, every member of the roster is healthy and available, and the absence of midweek games has allowed the club to not only recuperate but also strengthen its bond during practice.

Starting at 3 p.m. EST, the Mountaineers and Longhorns will take the field.
