THE FEVER HAVE PROVIDED AN INJURY UPDATE ON TWO PLAYERS AHEAD OF CAITLIN CLARK’S DEBUT’

The Indiana Fever will be without forward Damiris Dantas due to a visa issue, while guard Kelsey Mitchell remains doubtful due to an ankle injury sustained during her time with the 3×3 U.S. national team camp in April. Dantas, a Brazilian citizen with eight years of WNBA experience, is currently returning to the U.S. from playing in a Turkish pro league. Mitchell, who has spent the past six seasons with the Fever, is recovering from an ankle injury sustained shortly before her participation in the 3×3 camp.

Despite these injury concerns, rookie sensation Caitlin Clark is set to make her preseason debut against the Dallas Wings on May 3. The former Iowa standout, who was selected as the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft last month, is healthy and ready to contribute to the Fever’s season.

Head Coach Christie Sides recognizes the heightened attention on the Fever this season, especially with the addition of Clark and 2023 top pick Aliyah Boston. However, she emphasizes that success will not come automatically and that the team must earn every achievement.

Meanwhile, ESPN analyst Pat McAfee has made a bold prediction, stating that Caitlin Clark will lead the Fever to multiple championships in the coming years, dismissing the recent success of other teams like the Aces.
