The most recent Birmingham City news from BirminghamLive features Tony Mowbray’s thoughts on two significant transfer transactions.

Tony Mowbray’s jokes suggest that Jordan James could be worth over £30 million come transfer window time, considering Birmingham City refrained from selling their best player in January.

James stuck with the Blues even after the team turned down numerous absurd offers from Atalanta, a Serie A team. Mowbray now wants to develop the 19-year-old in order to ensure that his value soars before the summer transfer window.

“Thirty-odd million, it’s got to be?” chuckled Mowbray. in answer to a query about James’ estimation. “I’m not certain. I would never have expressed what he did. We did talk about his perception of himself in relation to Wharton, though.

Naturally, James is far more valuable than Atlanta provided. “It’s really hard to argue against that,” Mowbray went on. He is a youthful football player who makes weekly appearances for the international squad and scores goals. I think the club is making the right choice.

Mowbray is measuring James’ value against Adam Wharton, who signed a contract that grew to £22 million on deadline day after leaving Blackburn Rovers to join Crystal Palace. James, who is five months Wharton’s junior, has made 37 more senior appearances (88–51).

Wharton is an England under-21 player, and James has eight full Wales caps. In addition, James has fared better this season with six goals in 27 Championship games compared to Wharton’s two in 26.

Mowbray went on, “He can score a goal, first and foremost.” As a little boy, he is aware of the location of the net. I like how he can change pace and exert pressure in the midfield because he has some leg strength. He’s a confident boy who never backs down.

“He needs to work on certain things, but he has a lot going for him. He needs to scan more and pay more attention to his surroundings. Anybody can go through a passing. He still has room for improvement in a multitude of areas.

James and recent addition Alex Pritchard could start together for West Bromwich Albion. The thirty-year-old became the Blues’ third and final January window acquisition on Thursday when he traded Sunderland for the second city.

Mowbray was aware of Pritchard’s potential availability because he was Sunderland’s head coach prior to joining Blues. “I’m not surprised,” Mowbray said. Since I served as the head coach there for fifteen months, I’m not shocked that he was allowed to depart. Having worked with him for a long time, I’m happy to have him on the team. I know there are instances where he can use an X-Factor to help win a football game.
