JUST IN:Bills Coach Eric Washington Hired As Bears Defensive Coordinator

Since 2020, Eric Washington has served as the defensive line coach and assistant head coach for the Buffalo Bills for the previous two seasons.

Changes are starting to unfold with the Buffalo Bills coaching staff.

Eric Washington, a defensive line coach and associate head coach for the Bills, was hired by the Chicago Bears to serve as their defensive coordinator, according to NFL insider Tom Pelissero. Since 2020, Washington has served as the defensive line coach. In 2022, he was promoted to associate head coach.

Washington spent time as the defensive coordinator for the Carolina Panthers in the past. It’s unclear if he will be in charge of calling defensive plays; that role was primarily held by Bears head coach Matt Eberflus for the majority of the last campaign following the resignation of defensive coordinator Alan Williams.

There are other Bills coaches that have caught the attention of defensive coordinators besides Washington. Bobby Babich, the linebackers coach, has been asked to interview for the Miami Dolphins, Green Bay Packers, and New York Giants defensive coordinator positions.
