JUST IN:What the Cardinals Need Most in the 2024 NFL Draft

Despite being under the new regime of general manager Monti Ossenfort and head coach Jonathan Gannon, the Arizona Cardinals sound committed to Kyler Murray as their franchise quarterback. Murray, who signed a massive extension in 2022, returned to the field in 2023 after an ACL tear and had some up-and-down results.

The Cardinals could have certainly placed him on the trade market and recouped as much draft capital as possible while clearing salary cap space. But, the team is instead choosing to retain Murray and build the roster up around him.

Wide receiver is one position that most definitely needs to be upgraded. According to PFF, the Cardinals’ top need going into the 2024 NFL offseason is a wide receiver. The need is significant because Marquise Brown, the top receiver, is about to enter free agency.

Due to the positive relationship between Brown and Murray, the Cardinals may decide to bring him back in free agency. Even though he played in two more games this season than he did in 2022, his output declined.

Although Brown is a reliable player, a legitimate No. 1 option in the passing game is still required, even if he does return. Marvin Harrison Jr., a standout player from Ohio State, should be the Cardinals’ selection in the NFL Draft if they want to address that need.

“Assume Marvin Harrison Sr., a former Colts legend, was 20 pounds heavier and 4 inches taller. That provides a good explanation for his son’s potential. The skill of MHJ is above his years. According to PFF’s Big Board analysis, he possesses WR1 athletic ability, excellent body control, and trustworthy hands.

Despite the depth and talent of this year’s wide receiver class, Harrison stands out above his contemporaries. He has everything you would like to see in a future No. 1 wide receiver—he is a really menacing figure.

His size, athleticism and attention to detail make him a tantalizing prospect. He is exactly what the Cardinals need as a No. 1 receiver to help elevate the skill position groups around Murray. That could be a dynamic duo for years to come in the desert.

A two-time All-American with the Buckeyes, Harrison dominated the last two seasons for Ohio State. He caught 67 passes for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, which followed a 2022 in which he caught 77 passes for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.
